This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to set up, operate, monitor and maintain glass mirroring equipment.

This unit applies to glass processing workers mirroring glass in accordance with pre-determined work orders.

No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.

Apply tinning solution in accordance with workplace procedures 
Rinse glass with demineralised water in accordance with workplace procedures 
Apply mirror solution to glass in accordance with workplace procedures 
Wash and blow dry glass in accordance with workplace procedures 
Apply backing paint in accordance with workplace procedures 
Inspect product for quality of work and discard or return items which do not meet quality requirements for reprocessing in accordance with workplace procedures 
Place completed work in holding area in accordance with workplace procedures 
Clean work area and safely dispose of rubbish in accordance with workplace procedures 
Inspect, maintain and tag equipment in accordance with workplace procedures 
Remove and store tools, equipment and unused materials in accordance with workplace procedures 
Accurately complete required workplace documentation 
Read work instructions and identify job and quality requirements
